Moorland Faroese Shawl

This large knitted shawl is all about the colour; wrap yourself in fifteen different colours, all working together to capture the essence of a summer day on the heather clad Yorkshire hills. Inspired by, and using, the colour pack of wool from Attic24 (available from Wool Warehouse), the shawl is mainly triangle shaped, worked from the top down. It has a lace gusset in the centre and shaping over the shoulders to help keep it in place when wearing.

The knitted shawl is 230cm (90 inches) wide, and 140cm (55 inches) deep. It requires all 15 balls of the Moorland colour pack, though not all of this yarn will be used and so could be made in fewer colours if desired. It is knit with a loose fabric of rosette stitch stripes, with lace border and lace central panel.

This is an intermediate skill level, requiring the following techniques: yarn over, increase and decrease, attaching a knitted border, provisional cast on and a garter tab. Instructions are given as charts and written out in full.
